Chocolate Spiced Cookies

INGREDIENTS

250 gr./ 8.82 oz. butter
150 gr./ 5.3 oz. granulated sugar
50 gr./ 1.76 oz. light brown sugar
1 large egg
350 gr./12.35  oz. all-purpose flour
50 gr./ 1.76 oz. Dutch-process cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
1½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground glove
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 350°F/ 175°C. Lightly grease or line with parchment two baking sheets.

In a small bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, spices, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.

Beat together the  sugars, egg and butter until smooth.

Add the flour mix to the butter mixture, beating gently until everything is well combined.

Drop the cookies by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2″/ 5cm apart and use a fork to flatten each cookie to about 1/2″ inch/ 1 cm thick, making a cross-hatch design.

Bake the cookies for 12 to 16 minutes. Remove them from the oven, and cool on a rack.
